Believing God — Merry Christmas!

by Carmen Horne 4 Comments

Every time I listen to Mark Lowry’s Mary Did You Know, I want to bust into tears. What did little Mary know? Dr. Luke shares that she was confused, disturbed, and pondered in her heart all that Gabriel told her.

In The Magnificat (Luke 1: 46-55), Mary says,

Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.”

We rejoice today that God continues to take notice of His sons and daughters.

Each of us has an intricate part in God’s plan — just as Mary did.

God places us in specific times and places. We are here for a reason. One day Mary was living her life as a young, virgin woman engaged to be married. The next day she was given her specifically chosen assignment. Her part in world and eternal history was bigger than she was and involved more than she could ever imagine.

I believe our assignments are specifically chosen, too. I also believe we cannot fathom God’s plan for us.

Many of the details of life are best left unknown. Mary would have surely sung a different song had she known what awaited her baby boy.

Instead of running (Y’all, I would have wanted to run. I mean, a pregnant virgin engaged to a good Jewish boy), Mary responded,

I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.”

I want to be found believing God. Don’t you?

I declare over you today:

You are blessed because you believe that the Lord will do what He says.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you Carmen. This morning I woke up thinking about Mary and how she pondered in her heart all the treasure to come. I love this message the Lord put on your heart for us today. “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” Thank you my friend. Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas. . . Glorious Jesus Day! I to love the song Mary did you know. When Jesus was born she seen the face of God. Everyday I walk out my door I expect opportunity from God to share a compliment, or a smile and some laughter! The new language is cheekbones, due to the mask! I look to see if I get eye contact and the cheekbones are raised I get excited there is a smile for Jesus! The Lord Jesus was born for all of us including Mary! My 3 year old son and his father died on Christmas Day 1989 he was 3. Today I can celebrate his life knowing he is with Jesus! Jesus was born this day, my son has life! We all can celebrate the birth of Jesus knowing God Himself wore flesh because He loved us! What a beautiful gift! Life! Mary did you know? Thank you Jesus and thank you Mary!

Dee, your comment gives so much encouragement. I am so sorry about the loss of your baby boy and his dad. I cannot imagine your hurt. As I read your words, I am filled with amazement at your testimony of God’s grace in your healing. Thank you, Jesus!

I love your way of seeing smiles in this masked world in which we live. Yes, I, too, look for the crinkle around the eyes and the lift of cheekbones. Our new language of love and friendship! Blessings, friend. May your 2021 be even more blessed than 2020!

"It takes a depth of pride to accept our way might not be the best way or the only way...' If Carmen had not already made me a follower of her blog, that one sentence would have had me hooked. It's not always easy to find someone who writes in ways we can relate. Carmen makes me stop and take a deep long look at who I am and where I want to be in my walk with Christ. I trust her to be a truth teller and a peace maker. Not only has she encouraged me so many times, but often my heart is pierced to make a change."

"Rarely will you find a woman with such a servant’s heart as Carmen Horne. I have had the pleasure of attending many church events, trips, and girl lunches with Carmen over the past sixteen years. She continues to be one of my favorite mentors whether in North Louisiana or on the beach in Florida, which is probably OUR FAVORITE place! She uses her kind and faithful heart when giving advice or mentoring others. Carmen is truly a light to many and guides you to find the light in yourself no matter how faint it may be. Hebrews 13:7"
