We Can’t Lose Hope — Jesus is Our Hope

Billy Graham once said, “The greatest need in our world today is the need for hope. We thrive on hope; we rejoice in hope, we witness in hope, knowing that experience works hope. ‘Happy is he . . . whose hope is in the Lord his God (Psalm 146:5).’ There is hope for the future. It is centered in the Person of Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose from the grave and is alive now. I have staked all that I am or ever hope to be on Him. “

I have been watching a documentary on the life of Rev. Billy Graham, “America’s Pastor” on Netflix. Movie trailer HERE. His core message never changed — God loves us, and our hope is in Jesus Christ.

We need a reminder of these truths from time to time — as we sit smack dab in the middle of the craziness, heartbreak, confusion, discouragement, and unbelief over our change in circumstances. God loves us, and we have not lost Hope. We cannot lose Hope. Jesus is Hope, and He never walks away. Nothing we are going through, no amount of ugliness, shame, or brokenness runs Him off. Here He sits — right in the middle with us.

Rev. Graham also said,

“Perhaps the greatest psychological, spiritual, and medical need that all people have is the need for hope.” (Hope for the Troubled Heart, Word, 1991)

Friend, I declare, based on God’s Word, you will not drown. This thing going on right now will not take you under. I speak Psalm 118:17 over you today: You will not die; you will live and declare to others what God has done in your life.

Psalm 118:17,ESV

I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD.” Psalm 118:17, ESV

Do you recognize God’s goodness in your hard place? Sometimes being able to see God working takes a little hindsight. Y’all, there have been times in my life that it took years to see God’s faithfulness and provision in my pain.

If you are ready, will you share your testimony of God’s faithfulness in your complicated circumstance? Leave us a comment or drop me an email. I would love to celebrate with you!

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.” Psalm 119:114, ESV

  1. Beautiful. Thanks. Had lunch with Cheryle yesterday – celebrating her birthday. Birthday is next Friday the 12th, but I knew she would be busy then. We had a great time. Hugs, Ann
