Do you believe you can have a best friend girl that you have met online? I never did. Personally, I have always stood firm on NOT making friends online. Well, not friends you might meet in person. I mean, what if they are actually a man? How could you tell? The internet can be a scary place.
Ellen and I met online in Proverbs 31 Ministries’ writer training, COMPEL Training and quickly discovered that we were both Louisiana girls with so much in common. I built up the courage to travel to the middle of the state and meet her in a Cracker Barrel. My daughter was appalled. Of course, I would NEVER want her to do such craziness. Ellen looked just a beautiful as her profile pic and I assured my daughter (who was on the phone with me while I waited in the parking lot so I could tell her that Ellen looked just like her profile pic) that I was in a public place and would run screaming if anything remotely seemed odd. More odd that meeting a stranger at a Cracker Barrel.
Since those days I have met many wonderful writing buddies online and have had the joy of meeting several of them in person. Oh the joy of belonging to the family of God.
Ellen and I have many deep discussions about life, ministry, and growing in our calling. Lately, we have discussed at length how to listen and hear God. Does that puzzle you like it does us? How do we get quiet enough to hear God speaking to our heart? How do we know it’s Him!?
