We Are Not At the Mercy of the World

As I sit reading from my Bible app – YouVersion – a verse in Isaiah stuck out to me as so relevant to where we are today.

“I have equipped you for battle though you didn’t even know me”.1 Isaiah is talking about King Cyrus and the prophesy God gave him that Cyrus would be the one given the right to restore Jerusalem and the Temple. King Cyrus was a pagan king and would not understand the importance of seeking God for direction.  Our verse tells us that Cyrus didn’t know God.

Does this encourage you like it does me? God can and does use the ungodly to bless the godly – God decides.

We are not at the mercy of the world

In the craziness of the world around us, we can lose sight that God decides. At least seven times in chapters 45 and 46 God reminds us that, “I am the Lord, and there is no other.”

It doesn’t matter what’s going on in our world today and it doesn’t matter what’s happening on your street or in your home, God decides. And when He decides, it will be used for our good.2  You and I are not at the mercy of the world around us. We belong to the God of all mercy and grace. His love for us is unfailing and forever.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29:11

  1. Great post Carmen! A friend and I were just discussing how dark the world feels anymore. But God decides! He can still use the ungodly people bless the godly. So glad I stopped by. Blessings to you.

  2. Amen to this, my friend –> “In the craziness of the world around us, we can lose sight that God decides.” A good reminder (’cause I find they’re often needed!) that God is faithful…”His love is unfailing and forever.” It’s easy to swirl in a tizzy. The news says “this”, social media proclaims “that”…but God and His Word stand forever. That’s where the calm is. That’s the location of peace. #writeon my friend. Hugs.

  3. Amen!
We are not at the mercy of the world!
    God decides.
I was feeling a little disappointed but reading this here I am so blessed stopping over.
I take home these words “God Decides”.
When He is done we will celeberate.
    God Bless Carmen

  4. “We belong to the God of all mercy and grace. His love for us is unfailing and forever.” Such a comfort to know that God is in control, and whatever happens to us is for our good. Thank you, Carmen, for this encouragement.
