When we feel out of control…

“They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.”

Psalm 112:7 (NLT)

The email came late in the day. Things are about to change. There is uncertainty and that translates into speculation. You are reading from the pen of “Queen Over-Thinking.”

It’s not that I don’t like change. I consider myself flexible and willing to try new things. The part that’s uncomfortable is the process of change – the unknown. You know that feeling – things will be different – you just don’t know exactly the how, when and why of it all.  Sometimes it seems our lives are comprised of one challenge then another.

Are you struggling with unsettling news? I hate it. It leaves us with that “out of control” feeling. And, I do not like to feel out of control. As my mind begins to spin and I begin to plan, I am reminded of King Solomon’s Holy Spirit revelation in Proverbs 16:9, “We make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” As God’s children, He has the plan. He leads, we follow. This verse confirms there are no coincidences in a believer’s life. “The steps of a man (and woman) are established by the Lord, when He delights in his (her) way” Psalm 37:23 (ESV) This is a promise that we can grasp and claim as ours. When our lives delight Him, He establishes our steps. We need to grab on to that promise and hold on tight.

Blessings are often hidden in packages labeled change.

Will you allow me to pray for us?

Dear Lord, You are our JEHOVAH-JIREH (The Lord our Provider). We feel anxious today about our lives, our jobs, our families, our health, our safety. We do trust You but when unsettling news comes and we feel so out of control, our hearts become burdened with insecurities. Please send Your peace to cover us like a warm blanket on a cold night. Send us a reminder today that You are near. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
